Description

The overflow expasion tanks are exposed to incredible heat and pressures, causing the plastic hose fittings and joins to crack without warning. Running low on coolant can cause your BMW to overheat, leading to expensive engine problems. With the high failure rate of the these expansion tanks, we recognise that the market has been flooded with notoriously cheap aftermarket replacements. This is why we offer a BMW Genuine expansion tank that has been manufactured by original equipment supplier NRF. The BMW logo has been etched off, allowing us to offer it at a fraction of the dealership price. Made in Germany.

Helpful Tips

As the hose ports are plastic, it's best not to put too much pressure on them during installation. Be sure you have enough coolant on hand prior to starting the job.

I bought this more that 6 months ago when I saw the prices of the coolant expansion tanks from BMW Melbourne and just imagined the cost of servicing on top of it, I looked at metal aftermarket tanks online but the very poor reviews in regards to leaks put me off. I had previously done the thermostat also from Clickable Automotive and thought I'd give it a go myself especially at the much lower price.

Installation wasn't too bad but after a couple months a hose I hadn't properly connected fell off. (luckily close to home) That tank's been great so far and hopefully lasts the rest of the life of the car.
I'd recommend first connecting the bottom hoses to the tank outside the car then fitting the expansion tank (until it clicks!) before putting the tank back in as fitting them in place is tricky on that angle.
