This tensioner pulley keeps the correct amount of pressure on the timing belt, helping to ensure the valvetrain operates correctly. This pulley is located half-way up the timing belt on the left, creating a triangle effect. Manufactured by INA, an original equipment supplier to BMW, and repackaged by IPD Germany.
Helpful tips
This pulley is also available in a timing belt kit that includes everything needed for the job (found at the bottom of this page). The timing belt and associated parts should be replaced at 100,000 kilometres at a maximum.
