DESCRIPTION

The E34 5 Series is of the most underrated models to come from BMW, particularly the 540i and M5 variants. The braking system was well ahead of its time, but when the discs starts to become thin, the effective braking performance diminishes. We recommend replacement with Zimmermann discs to restore its braking performance (and with it, your confidence). Zimmermann is an original equipment supplier of brakes to BMW. Made in Germany.

HELPFUL TIPS

It's a good idea to replace your rear brake pads at the same time as your discs.

Perfect OEM Replacement for E34 540*

As mentioned Zimmermann is the one of the OEM Suppliers of discs for this time period of BMW 5 Series (the other being aTe).

I had an issue where the last set of rear discs fitted to one of my 540's were incorrect (they had supplied and fitted E39 540 discs, exactly the same dimensions except the retainer hex screw could not be fitted also the handbrake internal diameter is larger, this had led to failure of the handbrake as it had stripped the lining material off the shoes) So these are an excellent replacement that actually fit correctly and the retaining hex screw can be used (I have just ordered a new set of handbrake shoes as I type this to replace the now useless OEM set)

NOTE:Contrary to popular belief, the E34 540's had the same rear brake package as the S38B36 M5's. So if you are fortunate to own an E34 M5, these are the rear disc replacements for you :)
