Fitted to a wide range of BMW models, the idler pulley helps to keep the drive belt on track. Due to the demanding job they have to do, it's very common for the bearings to wear out. From original supplier, INA.

The idler pulley runs on the main belt that drives the alternator and water pump, but over time these pulleys can wear out and create a snowballing of problems for the motor. Suitable for use on both mechanical and hydraulic tensioner systems.
Helpful tips
These pulleys are a common cause of bearing noise under the bonnet. We recommend replacement as part of preventative maintenance.
