DESCRIPTION

Made from plastic, the expansion tank base is exposed to a lot of heat from the cooling system, causing them to become brittle and crack. Often times, the base will crack when a new expansion tank is being installed. We recommend replacement as part of good preventative maintenance, particularly whenever replacing the expansion tank. Made by Germany's Febi-Bilstein.

HELPFUL TIPS

Make sure you have enough coolant on hand prior to starting the job.

I originally wasn't planning to replace my Expansion Tank Base as part of my Cooling System Refresh but as the Transmission Thermostat was seized into it and wouldn't move without crumbling apart!
The new Expansion Tank Base fitted up perfectly and the quality seems to be just as good as the genuine item!

OEM Quality Parts Overnight

Had planned on re-using the existing expansion tank base when refreshing my cooling system but upon inspection, once I got the radiator out it was obvious a replacement was required. The old one (possibly the original, 20+ years old) was crumbling in various places.
Clickable to the rescue with next-day delivery to Melbourne metro! Fortunately, the coolant flange (OEM Part: 17111707817) was fine as it doesn't come with this tank base, you might want to look into replacing that, mine was fine. This fits the new radiator and expansion tank perfectly and so far it seems I have no more coolant leaks.
