DESCRIPTION

As BMWs get more sophisticated, it's only natural that the technology used in their water pumps advance too. A growing number of modern BMWs are being released from the factory with electric water pumps that are designed to work when the motor is off (for vehicles with the automatic start/stop feature), as well as reducing engine load so as to improve performance and economy. They have the tough job of moving huge amounts of coolant through the motor and turbochargers at very high pressures, so, understandably, these units can fail or develop cracks in the plastic housings as they age. This replacement electric water pump (manufactured by OEM supplier VDO/Continental) is the same one that is sold by dealerships but comes directly from Continental, allowing us to offer it at a fraction of the cost of water pumps packaged in a BMW Genuine box. Complete with single-use aluminium bolts.

HELPFUL TIPS

Avoid this water pumps coming into contact with oil (from leaks, spills, etc.). An internal gasket seal is known to swell with oil contact and will crack the pump.
