The belt tensioner keeps the main drive belt tight, ensuring there is enough traction for the air conditioning, power steering pump, and alternator to work. Something as simple as a loose belt can cause a failure of the cooling, steering, and charging systems. This tensioner and pulley is located at the highest point in the belt run. Manufactured by INA, an original equipment supplier to BMW, and repackaged by IPD Germany.
