Description

This drive belt is specifically designed for BMW N52-engined models equipped with electric power steering — also known as the “CO2” or EfficientDynamics versions. If your 3 Series, Z4, or 1 Series doesn’t have a hydraulic power steering pump, this is the correct shorter belt for your engine.

Found on select E85/E86 Z4, E90/E91/E92 3 Series, and E87/E88 1 Series models, these later N52 configurations replaced the power steering pump with an electric system — improving efficiency but changing the belt routing in the process. 

Manufactured by Continental, OEM supplier of drive belts to BMW. This multi-ribbed serpentine belt drives all key engine accessories — including the alternator and A/C compressor — with the fit, tension, and durability you’d expect from a factory-quality component. 

Helpful tips

If you’re unsure whether your vehicle uses electric or hydraulic steering, check for a power steering fluid reservoir under the bonnet — no reservoir typically means electric steering. Or feel free to send us your VIN and we’ll confirm it for you.
