DESCRIPTION

The Vanos Solenoid Valve (SOLV) is a critical part of the variable camshaft timing in modern BMW's. A common fault component on all N52 & N54 engine models, these valves have a tendency to go bad and can cause a wide array of problems, from erratic engine performance, warning messages to hard starting and a rough idle. Engine problems can come and go as these valves start to go bad but, with being such an important but sensitive component, a quality replacement is a must. In the past, this has been one of the few parts that we have only sold BMW Genuine however, these new-to-market valves from Continental/VDO offer a quality part at a much more reasonable price. 

HELPFUL TIPS

Fault codes for these sensors are typically: 2A99 (P0017) - Crankshaft Position / Exhaust Camshaft outside of reference value range, 2A82 & 2A87 - Vanos Mechanically Jammed, 2A9A & 2A9B - Camshaft Sensor signal invalid for synchronisation, 2A98 (P0016) Camshaft to Crankshaft correlation error.
