Description

We’re excited to welcome one of our long-time favourite engine oils back into the range. Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40 is a high-performance, 100% synthetic engine oil that offers trusted protection for a wide range of naturally aspirated and early turbocharged BMW engines.

Approved to BMW Longlife-01, Porsche A40, and MB 229.5 standards, this oil is ideal for modern classics from the E36, E39, and E46 and and into E9x generations. 

Regular oil changes are part of life for any enthusiast, but not all oils are created equal. Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40 is a standout choice for BMW engines before the 2010's, where protection, not just compliance, matters most.

While newer oils have shifted to thinner formulas for fuel economy gains, X-Cess 5W-40 remains focused on protecting engines—especially in our harsher Australian conditions. With a strong additive package rich in ZDDP (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate), this oil excels at:

  • Excellent high-temperature stability – ideal for Australian conditions

  • Strong anti-wear chemistry – ZDDP-rich for earlier valvetrain designs

  • Outstanding detergent/dispersant properties – keeping internals clean

  • Manufacturer-approved formulation – BMW LL-01, MB 229.5, Porsche A40
