DESCRIPTION

ZF LifeGuard 8 - the genuine fluid developed by ZF specifically for their 8-speed automatic transmissions, commonly referred to as the 8HP series.

These transmissions are fitted to a wide range of European vehicles including many BMW, Audi and Volkswagen models. Shift quality and long-term durability in the 8HP platform rely heavily on precise hydraulic control and clutch engagement characteristics, and the fluid plays a critical role in maintaining this balance.

LifeGuard 8 is engineered by ZF around the internal clutch materials, valve body calibration and operating temperatures of the 8HP transmission family. For owners who prefer to service their gearbox using the original factory-branded fluid specified by the transmission manufacturer, this is the correct product.

Although many 8HP transmissions were originally marketed as “lifetime fill”, real-world experience has shown that regular servicing is beneficial. Fresh fluid and a new filter help maintain smooth shifting, consistent engagement and long-term reliability — particularly as vehicles age or if they are driven enthusiastically.

We are pleased to now offer Genuine ZF LifeGuard 8 as part of our transmission servicing range.

Many customers will know that we have long supplied high-quality specification-compliant fluids for ZF transmissions, and we remain confident in those products. However, we also understand that some owners strongly prefer to use the genuine factory-branded fluid, and we believe it makes sense to support both approaches.

If your preference is to service your ZF 8HP using the fluid developed and branded by ZF themselves, LifeGuard 8 is the right choice.

As always, we recommend replacing the integrated filter and sump assembly at the same time and ensuring the transmission is filled and level-checked at the correct temperature using proper procedure.
