Our Mistake

Late last year a small number of our customers experienced issues with a particular brand of camshaft sensor that were purchased from our online store. We wanted to publicly and sincerely apologise to the 20 or so customers that purchased the product, and who trusted us to provide them with a quality, long-lasting replacement part. In an attempt to offer a constant supply of this M52/M54 intake cam sensor, as well as maintaining low prices for our customers, we made an error in judgement and changed brands. In hindsight, this new sensor was not at an acceptable standard for us. We soon received a small number of complaints that the sensors were failing shortly after installation.

To our knowledge, three customers experienced a failure of this particular brand of cam sensor. When the second failure was reported to us, we immediately pulled the product from our website and began steps to rectify the issue. All customers that purchased that brand of sensor have been contacted with a personal apology, and offered either a replacement or store credit to the value of the original. Of the three customers that experienced failures, one customer was provided with a full refund, and two were immediately sent BMW Genuine replacement sensors at no cost to them.

There’s a fine line to walk when providing products that are of a high quality, but at a cost that we would deem reasonable. Finding products that meet those requirements (and that we are able to constantly source) is something we take seriously and we spend a lot of time researching. We thought we would highlight this case to apologise for our error, and to give some insight into the methods we employ in order to provide our customers with confidence in our business. Our customers must have confidence in both the products we sell, and the experience they have during the sales process as well as after the sale has been completed. Customer trust is at the very core of everything we do.

We have since moved our camshaft sensors across the VEMO brand. Their Q+ stamped sensors are OEM-quality, with many of them being actual BMW Genuine sensors that have been reboxed (but cost around 1/3rd of the price of a replacement sensor from a dealership). We want to assure our customers that these replacements are the highest quality aftermarket sensors available, and reaffirms our commitment to providing the best parts at prices that are fair to Australian BMW owners.
