Water Pump & Belt Kit

The water pump is integral to ensuring your motor runs at the correct operating temperature, with failure potentially causing very expensive repairs. This kit contains everything you need for preventative maintenance. These parts have to be removed to access the water pump, so replacement with brand-new items makes a lot of sense. In doing so, it significantly reduces the chances of an expensive failure later. 

HEPU Water Pump

The water pump has a big job to do. It has to use the engine torque from the drive belt to circulate huge amounts of coolant throughout the motor and its auxiliary components. With so many internal forces at play, the bearings can fail with almost no notice at all, creating leaks. The other main weakness is that the original factory BMW water pumps use a plastic impeller, which can degrade over time and force bits of debris through the motor. Made in Germany by HEPU, this high quality water pump has a light-weight metal impeller for greater longevity and improved efficiency. Complete with rubber o-ring. 

INA Belt Tensioner Pulley

BMW fitted both mechanical and hydraulic belt tensioners to their models, and the only way to know which one has been fitted to your BMW is with a visual inspection. This roller attaches to the hydraulic tensioner (the one that looks as if it has a shock absorber attached to it), and keeps the main drive belt tight, ensuring there is enough traction for the water pump and alternator to work. Something as simple as a loose belt can cause a failure of both the motor and its electrical systems. This pulley is manufactured by INA, an original equipment supplier to BMW.

INA Idler Pulley

The idler pulley runs on the main belt that drives the alternator and water pump. Suitable for use on both mechanical and hydraulic tensioner systems, this pulley is manufactured by INA.

Contitech Main Drive Belt

The main drive belt powers the alternator, water pump, and power steering units. After years of working under the stresses of engine torque and resistance from the auxiliary units, these can snap without warning. Replacement as a part of preventative maintenance is recommended.
