DESCRIPTION

In slow traffic your engine needs to maintain a constant airflow over the engine. This is where the fan clutch comes in, engaging the mechanical fan to keep things within a safe temperature. When it's cool enough, it simply disengages, reducing load on the engine. Manufactured by Behr Hella, an original equipment supplier to BMW.

HELPFUL TIPS

The fan clutch is often overlooked, but a good item to replace as part of preventive maintenance. Over time the fan clutch looses its strength and ability to lock the fan on at full speed causing engines to run hot and overheat. If your engine is running hotter than it should this is a good place to start. Consider changing your plastic fan while doing the job too, for complete peace-of-mind.
