DESCRIPTION

The DISA valve (also known as the air adjustment unit) controls the path of air through the plenum, regulating the intake manifold pressure to provide greater torque around town and more power at higher revs. Unfortunately these are a weak point and can often break, causing the flap to get stuck and allowing debris to potentially enter the motor unfiltered. Located next to the intake manifold, replacement is a relatively simple procedure, and should be replaced as part of good preventative maintenance. This replacement DISA valve units from Germany's Vaico are high quality and a fraction of the cost of a BMW Genuine replacement.

HELPFUL TIPS

Noticed an immediate improvement

Figured my car had been a but sluggish in the bottom end which is where the disa valve is meant to increase torque and after removing my old one I found the vacuum pot wasn't holding at all anymore.
New disa valve thrown in and the effect was immediate, felt punchy in the low end again.

Improvements were immediately evident

Old DISA valve on my 323Ci had a bad diaphragm. It could not hold the closed position. When vacuum applied it could not fully turn as well. I also saw my average fuel consumption rose to 8.9l/100km.
I replaced the faulty unit with this brand new one from Clickable. I immediately felt more low end torque. Now if I press gas pedal on the end of a roundabout in second gear, it flies off the roundabout with squeaking rear end and traction control light blinking. Car feels very powerful. Also my fuel consumption has gone down to 7.5l/100km which is awesome.
