Description

Removing contaminants that could potentially damage the engine and that reduce the efficiency of motor oil is vital to keep the engine performing at its best. A quality oil filter must be able to do this under extreme heat and high pressures. Your oil filter should be swapped during every oil change to ensure the new fluid is kept cleaner for longer. This replacement oil filter is manufactured by BMW filtration supplier, MANN.

Helpful tips

At first sight, it may look like removing the oil filter is a harder task than it really is. Some assume that to remove the oil filter housing cap requires a special tool from BMW. While specific tools are available, they're typically expensive, hard to source, and not needed for the job. A readily available old-fashioned oil filter wrench will loosen and then retighten the cap without a problem. We recommend the type with rubber lining to avoid marking or damaging the plastic housing cap, however a carefully placed microfibre towel can also help with other wrench designs.
