Thermostat
The thermostat has the job of regulating coolant depending on its temperature, but the plastic housings can leak and the thermostat itself can become stuck. Complete with gasket, this replacement thermostat comes from Mahle (BEHR).

An important component in the smooth operation of the cooling system, the thermostat limits the flow of coolant through the engine. This reduces the time the engine takes to warm-up and helps maintain the optimum temperature once that's been reached. Over time though, and through thousands of heat cycles, the plastic in these units weakens. The result is often cracked and leaking housings. Thermostats can also often become stuck in one position, resulting in engine overheating or running cold. This relatively inexpensive item should be on everyone’s list of items to replace every few years, so as to maintain optimum performance. Made by Mahle (BEHR).
