DESCRIPTION
The Vanos Solenoid Valve (SOLV) is a critical part of the variable camshaft timing in modern BMWs. A common failure point on all N52 & N54 engine models, these valves tend to degrade over time, leading to a range of issues, including erratic engine performance, warning messages, hard starting, and rough idle. Symptoms may be intermittent as the valves begin to fail, but given their importance and sensitivity, a high-quality replacement is essential. Previously, we only offered BMW Genuine valves, but these options from Pierburg provide a reliable solution at a much more reasonable price.
HELPFUL TIPS
Fault codes for these sensors are typically: 2A99 (P0017) - Crankshaft Position / Exhaust Camshaft outside of reference value range, 2A82 & 2A87 - Vanos Mechanically Jammed, 2A9A & 2A9B - Camshaft Sensor signal invalid for synchronisation, 2A98 (P0016) Camshaft to Crankshaft correlation error.
